I asked Jerry's permission on this.. He was kind enough to custom wind a tapped coil unit for installation on my new black[better tone] Carter... A VERY nice guy! John Fabian asked me not to mention this pick up until I had asked Jerry's permission and I did so.If it works out the way I think it will, I'm going to have Jerry wind one at Fender impedance specs in the tapped position and somewhat "thicker" in the "all out" position. I have been doing this sort of thing for YEARS [since the mid/late 70's] and I can tell you you CAN get any 1 steel guitar to have two distinctive sounds with one well thought out pick up. If you need further info, email me. And Jerry will probably be glad to make something similar for any steel player on this forum. bob

Hi Bob,no I don't mind you mentioning the tapped pickup..And yes I think i
can fix you up on the fender..I have the original pickup specs for the 400
and 1000 fenders..

Let me know how the new Carter does for you..Its a unique coil in the pickup
and a one of a kind at this time..

Thanks , Jerry

Many years ago tapped pickups were quite common, but now almost no one makes or uses them, probably because most people never used the split coil. Other than the tap at Fender's impedence, what's different or unique about this one?

Yes coil taps are quite useful, on steel or anything else.
I am haveing a tapped pickup mounted on my electric mandolin with a 5 way strat switch and a few caps,
so it can be both jazz warm and tele twang on one instrument.

I may move my C6 TT to E9 and have Jerry do a tapped C6 pickup.
