I'm interested in any info I can get about a CLR brand steel. Does anyone have one, or have a first hand opinion of the quality, playability, or value of these steels. (I've already seen John Fabian's post from last year raving about them.)

Bobby,
I can speak first hand for Chas. Reece,a lifelong friend and straight up guy.He will not do anthing but first class,when you get one of his guitars it looks good,plays great,stays in tune,will treat you right.He does what he tells you he will.I will look up some pics and email you a little later today.Also his email.Also a super push pull mechanic.

Bobby,
The CLR, built by Charlie Reece, is a top quality steel. Not only does Charlie play 'em good, he builds 'em good. If you have a chance to grab one, do so before it gets away. Yep, a true gentleman to deal with, too.[This message was edited by Roger Crawford on 16 February 2004 at 03:17 PM.] |

| I had a CLR and it was a really nice sounding and very nice playing steel ..I would have kept it but I went to a U-12 instead....It's one of the steels that I've sold that I do think about from time to time ...It had a really nice full tone also ....Jim |

| Charles Reece is a true Gentleman and his word is as good as Gold. I marvel at the workmanship of his guitars everytime I go to Saluda.They are absolutely beautiful and sound even better. John, Bill, Roger---you guys have not, and CAN NOT, say enough good things about Charles. When I got my first steel (an old Professional), Bobby Boggs sent me to Charles' house, and Charles had that rack and barrel mess going in no time. He found me a LeGrande, set it up, and when I traded for a push-pull, Charles went through it, as well. He plays 'em, he fixes 'em, and the guitars he builds are not only pretty to look at, they sound and play real good too.

I appreciate all the info guys. I did pick up a used one. Haven't received it yet. Just wanted to see what I could find out about it. Looking forward to added her to the collection. (Yes, Jerry, another steel)
Does anyone else on here own one of these???
