Erv, that's harsh. I'm using my imagination. It's basically just going to be the reverb channel of a blackface Twin with no tremolo and a single 15" speaker.

Looks neat so far!

I strongly advise not using that paper fiberboard material though. I am not sure why people still use that because its singlehandedly responsible for about 95% of the problems vintage fender amps have ranging from small issues like "static" on the controls, to large problems like noise, hissing, crackling, and intermittent "hit the amp and it works" things. The paper is dyed black with Carbon - which is conductive… that should be enough to discourage using it on its own.

Hopefully its not too late for you to have your friend move it over to garolite Very Happy

Edit: not trying to be harsh… trying to spare you future headaches!

I appreciate it. I will pass on this information to him. I can't really push him. He's new to building amps and he's not charging me a dime for it. I can't really complain too much.

What is that circuit that uses 7 diodes? I can't imagine what it does. Confused

1 is for the bias circuit, the other 6 are for the B+

those are really small diodes - 6 is a good call for redundancy! I like to use 1A 1000V in that spot, and in that case you only need 2 but I still use 6 Smile

Thanks. I will let him know if he hits problem. So far he's done a Princeton Reverb, a Super Reverb, and some kind of Hiwatt. This will be the first time he's working without a blueprint.
