i need to replace the input plug on my peavey special 112. would it be something that i could do or would i be better off sending it back to peavey? i also thought about switching the number one input with number 2?....any help/advice would be really appreciated....thanks jack

Jack, I looked at some pics on Google Images, and it appears the jacks are board mounted. Desoldering and soldering will be required. Changing the 1 & 2 positions won't be possible. I would definitely get replacement from Peavey, that way they should fit existing holes on the PC board.

scott: thanks for the info, i was going to order the parts from peavey, just wondering how hard it would be for me to install. i can solder (maybe not great) i just don't know if i could do it. may just need to send the chassis to peavey....jack

Jack, the hardest part will be removing the jacks. I normally try to cut the leads off the bodies, so I can removed just the leads one at a time. Getting the holes clean is the next thing. You don't want too much heat for a prolonged period of time on the board. Sometimes, I will heat the solder, get close to the board and blow the solder out the other side. At least, you are going to need one of these... a "solder sucker".



Might need some desolder braid. And make sure the solder you use is the good stuff, not the Walmart or auto parts store stuff. I use the really small stuff from Radio Shack.
