******Steel Jam Texarkana September 28th******

Post by Henry Matthews »

We are having another steel guitar jam in Texarkana on Sunday, September 28th at 1PM until we get tired, lol. I guessing around 8:30 or 9.
It will be held at the Oaklawn Opry Country Music Theater located in Oaklawn Shopping center. General admission for all day is $8. There will be a concession stand with sandwiches, drinks, popcorn and candy.
It will be operated sorta like Dallas show with a set for each player of about 30 minutes with a live band. There will be some vocalist also. You can go to Oaklawnopry.info for directions.
Here is a list of some of the players: Y'all come on over that Sunday for a great afternoon.

Junior Knight
Paul King
Terry Sneed
Glen Evans
Pete Walthall
Jim Evans
Dan Rollins
Travis Partain
Derrell Stephens
Rudy Osborne
Gene Simmons
Ronnie Neighbors
Robbie Primm
Henry Matthews
Roy McAlexander

Thanks Henry for inviting me to be a part of this jam. Many people may not know but Henry has run a successful Opry for many years and is a fantastic musician himself. There are some fantastic pickers on that list and I will be toward the bottom of the pole but I enjoy being around my steel guitar family. I look forward to a great day of music and fellowship.

Henry, Thanks again for the invitation. I am looking forward to seeing and hearing other steel players and making new friends. I expect to arrive around the 11:00 A.M. area since the drive will be about 3 1/2 hours for me. I know this will be a great day of music and fellowship.

Hi Henry, Would like very much to get down to your shindig but sorry I can't make it this time, maybe some other time. You have a very good line up of pickers and I know it will be a great time. Best of Luck, J.R.

to which jr, said....
gee, I wish I was pointed that direction....

The jam has come and gone. What a fun day of music and fellowship. I got to see some old friends and make more friends too. It was great to sit back and hear other steel players at all levels play. Thanks Henry for putting this together and I hope someday I can return the favor to you.

Thanks to Henry for hosting the jam, enjoyed it all.
Thanks Pete, but I knew something was wrong with my tone. when I got home I noticed my Lexicon was set on flange/reverb, instead of delay/reverb. Got in to big of hurry setting up I reckon.
You know I had to come up with some excuse. :)

I think the steel jam was a great success and all the players and the band did an excellent job. I would personally like to thank, Junior Knight, Paul King, Terry Sneed, Gene Simmons, Derrell Stephens, Travis Partain, Jim Evans for their wondErful job behind the steel guitar.

Would also like to thank the wonderful back up band we had, Tommy Vaughn, Ronnie Pippen, Charlie McBay, Richard Walker and Ricky Blaze. Guys ,y'all did a great job.

We also had some great vocalist, Sissy Privitt, Gena Roberts Hamilton, Randall Cox, Kim Bruce, Al Bolt and I even sang one. Terry brought a a vocalist and sorry, missed his name. They were all Great.

Hope we get to do it again next year. Thanks guys and gals
