Can anyone give me the skinny on this. I've heard different answers to this question.
I have a great AT mic that requires phantom power that I just love to use to mic my flat-top. It goes thru the same system as non phantom powered mics, SM 58's and so forth. Is there any problem or danger to either type of mic running it it this way?
Of course phantom must be turned on, on the mixer to run my mic, but can it blow up the "regular" mics, or vice versa?
Thanks in advance.

A passive microphone (one that does not require a voltage supply) is not affected by phantom power. It is safe to run them with phantom power on, and safe to run them alongside active mics (that do require phantom power).

Some ribbon mics - the ones with center-tapped transformers - can cause problems for phantom. This would only be a problem with *old* ribbon mics.

Dynamic mics can be basically miswired and cause problems with phantom.

Other than that, you're good to go.
