Topic: Knee Lever Shorting Out Guitar? |

Okay, gang, this one seems mighty strange to me but here goes...
When I fully engage my C6th LKR, my guitar goes silent. It seems to happen the moment the knee lever makes contact with the set screw that regulates the throw of the knee lever. (For the life of me, I have no clue what the right name is for that part.)
I can't see any place where the guitar's hardware makes contact with the pickup wiring nor can I see any place where the wiring is exposed so that contact with something else could cause a problem.
Any thoughts about what to look for? Things to try? |

If there is no contact between a metal part and the wiring, I would suspect a cold solder joint somewhere and that particular move puts just enough stress on it to make it break down. I'll be interested to see what you find.

| i know you checked all this, but i've had that problem before. it always turned out that something in the linkage chain, even to the changer movement, was shorting against a wire somewhere. happy hunting. |

What pickup are you using. I chased a problem like this earlier this year. It turned out that in an original BL 705, the braided metal shield had deteriorated inside the plastic insulation about a half inch back from where it was stripped. Very odd... as this was a second hand pickup, I suspect that some moisture had infiltrated at some point. Stripped a bit of insulation, exposed the shield, re soldered, and problem solved.
I only noticed the problem when moving RKR.
So jiggle those wires a bit while playing... who knows? |
