Topic: Yamaha THR10C as travel amp? |

I've seen some threads with info on the THR amps, but I'd like to hear opinions of the THR10C as a travel amp (vacation, hotel room, etc.), particularly for Lap / Non-pedal steel. I don't give a hoot about high gain, just interested in useful tube-ish warmth in a tiny package. Anybody got one?

A great little amp designed for the bedroom or hotel room. I have the 10C, which is more of a bluesy amp than the THR10.
Sets up easily.....connect to USB port if needed....takes pedals surprisingly well.
If you intend on traveling with the 10C, a gig bag for it is highly recommended:

| For lap steel, you might also consider the Roland Micro Cube. I bought one a few months ago and it has a great tone, effects and amp modeling. Don't wright it off just because it only has 3 watts. Plenty of power for your intended use. It also has aux. input for trax. I've used it outside with good results. Half the price of the Yamaha, but I know Yamaha builds good stuff. I have a 40 year old Yamaha JX30 that I love with my lap steels. |

George, I already have a Vox DA-5, which is very similar to the Microcube in size and features. This new Yamaha is quite a bit more compact, which is what I'm looking for.

I went ahead and ordered a THR10C (plus gig bag) and am hopeful it'll work out for travel. I can probably create a preset or two that I like. Granted, this all kinda kills me since I build my own tube amps otherwise, but, hey, right tool for the job is my motto.
