Can someone date a Carter D10 for me please? 9018 4210 20.

Also it has either XR16 or 710 pickups on it. They both look alike from the top. Does anyone know the resistance of the two pups. They should be different and that would be a good way to tell them apart.

Thanks Fred

Based on mounting LXR-16 pick ups and L-710 pick ups in a D-10 push pull Emmons and a D-10 Franklin:

L-710 pick ups are very bright with a full low end, very touch sensitive and responsive. These are best suited for guitars that are acoustically medium or darker in tonal response. The pick ups are also optimal with a signal chain that is not highly buffered. Pick up height may be best at approximately 3/16.

LXR-16 picks ups are not as bright, have more midrange but with a high-end presence. Low end is still good. Response is also good. These are best suited for acoustically bright guitars or a signal chain that is highly buffered. It helps to boost the treble and cut the midrange on the amp or pre-amp. Pick up height may be best closer than 3/16 to increase highs and lows.

Hope that helps.

Wow. 3/16" for a 710. I'll have to try that.

3/16" is what I have my 710's set and Mr Franklin (Sr) told me I had mine at the correct setting.
