Old 55

Post by Ed Heins »

I really like the steel work on "Old 55" by the Eagles and am trying to learn it off the recording. I think Al Perkins played on the recording. Great stuff in the style I would like to develop. Has anyone here possibly tabbed this out?

Assumed that was Bernie Leadon playing steel on the early Eagle's recordings.

No it appears on that one song from the On the Border Album, Al Perkins is credited with the steel. That seems reasonable as his style I think is quite different than Bernie Leadon who played pedal steel on three other tracks including Best of My Love.

OK guys, I took a shot at Ol'55. Here's the intro and first verse and chorus. The steel is really down in the mix in places and a little difficult to hear. You can put chord pads in the measures where I haven't noted any steel in the tab. Have fun and your corrections are always welcome.
