I have a VOX amp, with only one input jack. Is it possible to add another jack, and volume control to it? I can use a mixer when doing a gig, or jam. But just to add a mic, for a few harmony words, it would be a lot easier. Thought all I have to do is parallel it with the existing jack and volume control. I was a electrician all my life, but not good with electronics.

If you feed two signals into the same channel, they compete, clash and distort (try running two axes into a Peavey steel amp at once, it's not pretty).
Amps with two channels have something that sums them into one signal.
In short, what you need is a mixer before the amp. I think they make simple two (or four) into one devices aimed at keyboard players.
I think you can find a simple Y cable to try just running two into one just to check it out.

Notice that these jacks are switching jacks, so you may need to put new jacks in.

Peter, I've found that if you have two signals in the same channel without a mixer, they fight.
One night the fiddler's amp died and she went into the other input of my LTD. We had to make sure we took turns, and no twin parts worked.

Thanks for your input guys. I do have a mixer, and that way I can control the output volume on my steel, and mic. I was just thinking by adding another one I could save hooking up the mixer. I will stick to using the mixer. It takes just a few minutes more to hook up. Wish I could play steel, and sing, at the same time, but my brain does not compute two things at once. Us guys are not like Sarah Jory. Thanks again
Ronnie

Lane, is the diagram the same on your LTD?
Just curious.

I'm not sure, it's been a while since I've looked. My recollection said it was similar, but I wouldn't attest to it.
