I like the idea of split cabinets, and the idea of vertical racks beside the seat. Here is the best of both worlds...
The "system" setup and ready...
Back view inside N112 cabinet with speaker only...
Spring handle mounted under N112 cabinet with speaker only... instant tilt back stand!
Front view of N112 cabinet with speaker only...
Inside view of amp cabinet / rack with "tray" lifted out... has a power strip for amp & effects...
Rear panel access with cord outside...
Rear panel access open... reverb tank on bottom of cabinet...
Cabinet / rack with removable top in place, showing front w/ Peavey logo...
Now, I cannot take credit for the idea. This was an accumulation of ideas gleaned from this forum.
The cabinet / rack housing the amp was built totally from scrap wood I had laying around. The outer coating is one can of "gutter spray" from Lowes. Hardware came from Parts Express.
I also took the opportunity to upgrade the op amps in the N122 with OPA2134PA chips. Sounds great, easy to operate, lighter (per piece) to carry.
The completion comes later this week or early next... a Zoom MS-50G effects unit will have a home on the tray next to the amp. _________________ Amateur Radio Operator NA4IT (Extra)

That is a cool idea!!! Just curious as to how much the speaker cab weighs by itself now, and the weight of the "new" electronics hut. The older I get, the lighter I like my gear. I'm sure it has to make a very noticeable difference.
Thanks!! |

Great! How much weight did the op-amps save you?

I'll get the weights tomorrow and post back. I have severe arthritis, and a bad right shoulder, and I can tell it helped.
(Can't use the left shoulder, is attached to the hand with the cane in it...) _________________ Amateur Radio Operator NA4IT (Extra)

Scott,
You are most certainly a master at improvisation.
Is that something you learned in ham radio ??

Inquiring minds wanted to know...
The Nashville 112 weights 42 lbs.
My cabinets are:
Speaker = 32 lbs
Amp = 41 lbs
The amp cabinet is made from 3/4" stuff, which probably makes it heavier. I should mention it can be reversed (single cabinet) in about 30 minutes.
Still, I am happy, happy, happy... _________________ Amateur Radio Operator NA4IT (Extra)

I'm confused. You saved 10 lbs by taking the amp out, but then you added 41 lbs for the amp cabinet. It looks to me like you're carrying 31 more pounds and one extra cabinet. Is it really worth the extra piece and weight just to have the amp controls beside your guitar? |

Added a Zoom MS-50G... got patches for Steel Reverb, Dobro, and Organ.
I'm also running the Nashville three cable setup, and a Li'l Izzy.
