Peterson VS II tuner

Does anyone have experience with the VSII tuner and with Jeff Newmans program, why would I want to use this tuner over others? Is it really better and quicker than others just a matter of personal preferance? Thanks Fred

Fred, this is the best tuner that you can get for the pedalsteelguitar.You are very quick in tune and you can trust him .Thats mean you don`t have to retune by ear .
I use the standart setting for E9th and C6th on the Tuner and that works perfect for my guitar.
If you don`t like the standart tuning thats are programmed in the tuner , you can programm very easy your own tuning.

Or, is this the best tuner for steel? I've got the old model and love it. Apparently this new model does a great job of auto tuning. Real visible in the dark too.

The Peterson tuner is, hands down, the best tuner ever for any instrument, especially the steel guitar. I don't use the E9/C6 presets. I programmed my own tempered pitches in-not a very difficult task. The tuner is a bit pricey, but forum member Chuck Campbell sells them at a sharp discount.

Now Paul, not more than 15 minutes ago I sent an e-mail to info@korgparts.com to try and locate (2) tuning buttons/knobs for the TWO WT-12's that I have. Yes, I would love to have a VS-II but will have to wait!

I've had the VS-II for a few months now and love it! I can't speak for the Newman presets though since I don't use them.
But there are two user banks, where you can program all 12 chromatic notes to your liking. You could use one bank for C6 and one bank for E9. It's extremely accurate and friendly. Hope this helps.

I looked at the VS-II at the NAMM show last weekend in LA and I have a few questions that maybe some here who own one can answer. (Sorry if the questions are a little uninformed...)

With only 12 presets for each tuning (E9/C6) how do you account for the multiple notes in each tuning that are the same (say D or D#) but tune to different cent values? For example, according to the Newman chart for E9, the open D# tunes to 439.0 and the 4th string lower D# tunes to 440.5

Do you have to manually shift the cent value for that note on the tuner and then tune it?

It`s by far the best tuner I`ve ever used, all preset and when the strobe stops, your dead on. D-10 WILLIAMS, D-10 LEGRANDE-EVANS

I just got one of these & am wondering the best way to use it to tune universal e-9/b6 12 string. They have a recommendation in the quick start for settings to save in p1 & p2, but it seems a little complicated. Also, some of those settings show that the note is way sharp in the tuner's alert system, but I have to admit that the guitar sounded beautiful after I tried their suggested settings. Is it possible to use the e9 preset for those pedals & the c6 (with b as the root note) for those pedals?
