I saw a Zum for sale that had an A9 tuning.
He said same as E9 just lower or a Baritone
steel. What would be involved in setting it
back to E9? Here lately I've zum questions.

I'm not familiar with Zums, but I can imagine two problems:
  1. You might have to change the nut rollers. If the guitar has gauged rollers, they will be cut too deep for the lighter strings.

  2. You might need to use different holes in the bell cranks, especially for the plain strings. This will become obvious when you start to tune up the pedals. Some of them might not have enough travel to make the change.
