I'm probably just not thinking clearly here... but on the Fessenden for sale at the moment in Buy & Sell, someone said it had splits on the 2nd, 6th and 9th E9 strings. What splits would you have on those? I can't think of two pulls that counteract each other on the 2nd or the 9th... so what, other than splitting the G# whole tone lower on 6 with the B pedal, are the splits for anyway??? |

I don't use splits at all, but many folks split the B to C# and B to A# on the 5th string.
Many folks also raise the 2nd string a half tone while raising the 1st a whole. A split with the lever that lowers a whole could be tuned to D, for use with the F# to G#.
9th?????? I dunno. May be a misprint.

From the ad, the guitar doesn't have the 2nd string raise. Beats me.

The split tuner on 9 works with the 2nd string whole tone lower with a half stop. Set the 9th string to start pulling when the 2nd string is at D, then use the split tuner on 9 to keep the 9th string from lowering too far. |
