"X" marks the spot. Laughing

Does it make the rods "shorter" and make the pedals higher?

Bahahaha that is hilarious!

I wish that could be done at the flick of a switch for the days I have trouble switching my foot between A&B and B&C. I still maintain that's one of the hardest things for a newbie to learn. That and intonation, grips, scales, chords, volume pedal, and blocking!

Many years ago I was asked by a steel player if I could sit in for him as he was seeing a new girl who later became his wife , he had finished backing the main act and so was free to do what he wanted, he had a Emmons and a Day setup, so I did what Ernest has shown. The crossed-rod trick was well known back in the '60s, and was a fairly common way (especially for Fender players) to use a guitar that was set up opposite of theirs. Since most Fenders had no levers, and the pedal height could be adjusted with no tools, it became one of those old techniques that got lost when levers became really popular. Very Happy

I too have seen players reverse the rods many years ago. As others have said, it was a common "quick fix" for Day players who were sitting in on an Emmons setup guitar.
