Classic Waikiki Steel Guitar....Casey Olsen

Post by Norman Markowitz »

My facebook friend the lovely hula dancer Kanoe Miller, posted this video on her facebook page. It features some classic steel guitar by Casey Olsen. The Hiram Olsen Trio. Hiram, Casey and Dennis Ke'ohokalole.

Click on the double arrow icon just to the right of HD in the bottom right corner of the video screen and you will feel like you are sitting in the front row.

Kanoe writes the following description to the video:

"In keeping with the Hawaiian cowboy theme, here is "Kilakila Na Rough Riders" (Majestic are the Rough Riders). This song was composed for Ikua Purdy and Archie Ka'aua, two Waimea cowboys that represented Hawai'i in the 1908 Cheyenne, Wyoming rodeo. Ikua won first place and became the world champion, and Archie won third place. Throughout the song you'll hear the chorus, "Hu'i e, hu'i 'eha, hu'i konikoni i ka pu'uwai", which means "Aches, aches and pains, Aches throbbing in the heart". Our bass player, Dennis Ke'ohokalole does such a great job singing this song...almost as if he were a cowboy himself! Aloha, Kanoe"

Ooops, thanks Mike! I deleted the other two. I was seeming to have trouble when I was posting.
