You never know what you might stumble across in a high volume used record store like Princeton Record Exchange. I found this promo disc which features an interview with Al Perkins right around the time of the release of Pacific Steel.
Does anyone recall hearing this show?

I can only say that I have the Pacific Steel album. Yours is a great find!
Something from his Big Dog 3 album:

Yes, I had my ear to the radio along with my cheap cassette recorder so I could play it over and over again. About a year before this radio show I saw Al playing at a local church concert.(Costa Mesa Ca.) I didn't even know who Al Perkins was or that strange instrument he was playing. Move ahead 1 year and I'm a struggling steel player thanks to Mr Perkins. Yes, I remember it well. I think I still have that cassette boxed up somewhere. |
