What about a theme-based jam? Some possible tribute suggestions:

1] Celine Dion (or Rolf Harris)
2] "Bollywood" show tunes
3] Klezmer cavalcade
4] Martial music
5] Rat-pack (sans Joey Bishop)
6] Sun Ra
7] Folk tunes of the Russian steppes
8] Circadian rhythms and blues

Barry, re: The Shaggs. Are you referring to the rock band that was based at UMASS in the 60s?

Barry, thanks for the link. Definitely not the same band. Totally different meaning of the term. More along the line of The Fugs or The Trogs. I never heard them, but always assumed they were a college party band. Bass player was from Palo Alto.

Oh man, that would be awesome! Let me know if that actually happens. I will have to check the Delta flight schedules, but it would definitely be worth the trip to Portland and back, if only just to observe.

Larry's Song List

Post by Dennis Lee »

Hi Larry,
Having been an armchair attendee, I probably don't have the right to cast my vote, but here it is, just the same. I think you have posted some really good song choices. How about: 5,6,11,15,16,19,20,22,33,36,38,39
Of course, the rest of our crew can run me out of town on a rail!

I think it might be easiest to copy the entire list into a new post, then delete the songs you don't want.
