I don't think I know how to link correctly. This is an "Orfeld Legacy" lapsteel listed on Ebay.... something Ive never seen before.

Looks odd alright. Curved les paul type bridge is a bit of a red flag to me...
Seems pretty expensive...

Says its shipping from Israel but does not mean the guitar is made there.

Absolutely Stunning. I love that body shape. Not sure about F - holes as they feedback like crazy with distortion but looks great.

That looks like a very interesting design. I'd hesitate to pay $1300 USD for such a guitar based on an absolute lack of internet presence other than one auction on eBay.

Got an answer from the seller:

"Thank you for checking out the Layla lap steel.
It is made in Israel and the maker told me that they were in the process of launching their first site.
Up until now they were building them for local audience and we are their first dealer."

An unrelated observation...Looks like you can throw a stone over your shoulder anywhere on Ebay and you will likely hit a Weissenborn style lap steel guitar!

Boy, ain't that the truth! It wouldn't be surprising if the weekly Asian output of Weissenborns exceeds old Hermann's entire Los Angeles production run of the 1920s and 1930s.

I have seen composite guitars from Israel before. Supposedly the sustain is superior, and they don't warp.

There are quit a few composite guitars produced here, Peavey, Composite Acoustics, RainSong,(one of, if not the first if memory serves),Blackbird.
That was just one page of a quick search...probably more out there.
Somebody must have made a reso by now.
They've been made from about everything else.
A buddy of mine made a reso out of plexiglass years ago.

I should make one out of a length of structural aluminum. It would be a lot easier than finishing wood.

Absolutely!! Make it out of 6063-T6. It can be welded and it rings like a bell!
I gave some serious thought to making a reso body out of it once...I was split between a single or tri-cone.
Tried to talk my brother into welding it for me if I formed the parts but he wasn't interested.

I hope you do build one sometime!

I have built amps out of aluminum channel, but it's not the prettiest material. They make nice, uniform extrusions that wouldn't look too bad.
