GAIN control has range for Line & Guitar levels on the INPUT, so no need for additional pre-amp stag(es). |

Hi Tom, it is really aimed at musicians who want the ultimate portable power but plan on getting their distortion and other effects via pedals.
So if huge cleans are what you are after then you are good to go. It would be like plugging into a very powerful tube amp that is very warm and open sounding. If you want high gain, you would need a pedal.
Now it can go into distortion by cranking up the gain, but it would be a mid gain range to be certain. _________________ I am affiliated with Quilter Laboratories. (www.quilterlabs.com) |

Correct me if I'm wrong, but with a Tone Block it looks like you could come out into two cabs with 4ohm speakers? Right now I have two MB200s to do that. Does it have the same tonal qualities that the Steelaire has if you are using premium speakers? |

George, it will be interesting to see what Quilter replies to this, but the back panel has a 4-ohm jack, an 8 ohm jack, and supposedly both together are set up for two 8-ohm speakers. So, you might get some power loss using both jacks. However, it seems you could get a Y-cable wired in series, plug it into the 8 ohm jack, and have a perfect match. But those Quilter guys seem to be pretty clever - maybe they've got an easier way? _________________ Bringing steel guitar to the bukid of Negros Oriental! |

Hi Jim
Since the Tone Block is very similar to the MB200, I'm sure that there will be those wanting to hear a comparison ....Have you heard both amps ? .....If so , I'd sure like to hear what you have to say about them .....Thanks for your time ....Jim |

Man I'd love to try one of these babies out. I was screwing around one day and put my Stage One E9 through a Fender Champion 600, which has an 8" speaker. I was floored by the low end response! Does anybody use a 2-10" or 4-10" cabinet for their pedal steels? |
