Dobro Roots book

Post by Tom Wolverton »

Steve Toth's new book "Dobro Roots" is out. It is excellent. He gave a short demo tonight of older dobros. It was a book release party in Escondido.

I received my copy last week - outstanding! I haven't had a chance to listen to the CD that comes with the book yet of Steve playing 15 songs on old Dobros, but I know it will be good, Steve is a fine player.

Mark the cuts sound great! and if i remember correctly the Dobro,s are panned right.
A much needed book on this subject.
And if your reading Steve please continue with this into the OMI era.

I also find it fitting that the book release party was in Escondido, California. This was the location of John Dopyera’s Fiddle Fret Shop. I remember hanging out there in the early 70’s. John built up for me my first real dobro, circa 1973. So 40 years later, we have a celebration of John’s design. And what a wonderful design it is, indeed. Thank you Steve for this book.
