Just wondering if anyone out there makes fretboards specifically for lap steels. I normally make my own wooden fretboards but these are 5mm thick. I'm hoping to use something thinner soon on a new build and if someone out there was making printed professional looking fretboards, I'd really be interested. most of my builds are 22 1/2 inch scale. 8 stringers. |

Thanks guys. Georgeboards frets look good. I might design my own and put it under perspex/plexiglass. I've seen some that look pretty good done that way. |

Here's one I'm working on right now. The F.B. is from GeorgeBoards (24.5" scale) and it is mounted on a bound 1/4" backing of maple.

I recently had some produced for a Fender T-8 I'm restoring and decided to order some extras while I was at it for some other projects I had planned. These are etched aluminum and filled with flat black enamel and match the vintage 22-1/2" fretboards in every way except these are mounted with a sticky back instead of with pins.
Anyway, I can let loose a few of these if you like them.

Hi Ron
Can you tell me how wide they are and approx thickness? I'm very interested in fretboards like these.
Regards

Billy, These are 20 gauge aluminum (.032" thick) At the widest part they're 2-3/4" and taper down to 2-5/16". The scale is for a 22-1/2"
I had some made in anodized aluminum by mistake that I returned. I tried to make it work but when it came down to it, I just didn't like the glare that was happening with that finish. I like these because they're easy to read and easy on the eyes under stage lights. The finish is very flat. |

Thanks for the specs Ron. Unfortunately I wouldnt be able to use these fretboards this time as I have had the keyhead made and at the keyhead end of the fretboard I would need 2 7/8 width. Thanks for your offer mate. |
