Steel player for current Loretta Lynn tour?

Post by Doug Jones »

I've just been given tickets to see/hear Miss Loretta Thursday night, March 27th. Does anyone know who is her current tour player?

Maybe Bob, But I thought Charlie Archer was her steel player in recent years.

It's Charlie Archer. He plays Emmons and GFI steels. I first saw him playing for Loretta when the Opry was still on TV in 2001-the lineup was Vince Gill, Sonya Issacs, Steve Wariner, Brad Paisley, and Loretta. Loretta performed "Coal Miner's Daughter" and another song called "Table For Two", which she sang with Vince. Charlie played some great steel on "Table For Two," which was written by Vince. Charlie is still in Loretta's band now, and used to play lead guitar with Conway Twitty

Bob is a friend, and on my Facebook. He is back with Loretta. Bob and band just got back from a big trip to Texas a week or so back.

Hey folks,

It's true, Bob is back with Loretta, several weeks now. I spoke to Bob Monday morning and they were to leave this morning. Let's all wish him well, sounds like he's having a good time.

Bob is a killer player. Seen him twice with Loretta back in the day. What would be even better, is having David Thornhill in the band too (might be).

Loretta was headlining the Austin Rodeo a few weeks back. We were playing in the tent outside but had a live feed of the show. I did not recognize the gentleman playing steel, but it was a real treat. Tons of steel on every song. Really good steel.

OT sorta. Many years ago my band opened for Loretta. Playing steel was John Hughey! My jaw hit the floor when I walked into the backstage lounge at Ponderosa Park. Spent an hour with him. He was very, very interested in my Kline!
