Use pedal steel to help stroke victums?

Post by Jim Bates »

Well fellow steelers I had my stroke a week ago, at home. It was a minor. I need to exercises as soon as can to be able to build me right hand. Anyone have things you did using the steel to help?

Thanx,

Jim ...I had a similar experience in 1993..but mine wasn't caused by a stroke. I had a Meningioma (Brain tumour) removed. After that I couldn't even wind up a small clock, and I could not feel the steel strings under my right hand. A nerve had been damaged..(one of the risk of any surgery), and it took several months to re grow. For my problem it was a matter of time. It may be the same for you. Be positive and keep using that right hand...do exercises...even gripping a tennis ball daily. I wish you well :)

Hey Jim, I see you play pedal and your stroke was minor.I played pedal as well but my one side was shot and I couldn't work the pedals correctly. My wife got me a lap steel and I played that for therapy when the hand started to come back. Listen to your rehab people and keep on exercising,it takes time. Chuck
