Speedy West classic arranged for C6 (tab)

I've posted the tab and a backing track to a classic Speedy West tune, Skiddle-Dee-Boo, on my blog. This tune was important for me in terms of trying to learn how to think like a steel player. Hope it helps you--I would have killed for this when I was just learning.

Ditto what Brad said. Always loved the music of this era and especially the Capitol recordings by Jimmy & Speedy. And triple what Brad said with Mike's tab of Sol Hoopii's 12th Street Rag. Brozman once tried to teach me to play it in low-bass G (to no avail).

Mike Neer is a treasure trove for serious lap steel players.

You're quite welcome. My blog has been something that has been really good for me in a lot of ways, and I anticipate in the coming months that I will have a lot of time on my hands which I can devote towards more musical endeavors.

My blog has reached over 300,000 views, which is kind of surprising to me.

the backing track is so nice!! and the music and tab is top notch! i could not open the actual track. some kind of download thing....i saw two things checked off that would make "ask.com" change my computer preferences! can you just post a simple click and play for the speedy track?

The backing was made with my Michael Dunn Maccaferri style guitar, Kay upright bass, and a pair of brushes and a box.

I have been watching some Speedy West on youtube lately, to get a better idea of how to play some of this stuff.
There is a clip of Speedy on Lawrence Welk, playing "On the Alamo" on a Fender 800, using the back neck. Anybody know how he had those necks tuned?

b0b commented on the blog that C6 pedal players can play this on the inside 8 strings with pedal 5 down.

@Doug, if I recall correctly, I recorded this on my Clinesmith S8 using the Lil' Izzy to give it that nice sparkle of a Standel, but played through my Princeton Reverb.

Don, it was just a shipping box, about 14x12x6.

Steve, that was my own solo--Jimmy Bryant handled the solo on the original recording.

I'm pretty sure he's playing the twin 8 string version which would make it a Fender 1000.

The 800 was a 10 string single neck (the 400 was the 8 string single and the 2000 was the double 10 string).

Someone came up with a tuning chart at the end of the thread but it looks like there was a misprint (or Speedy had a modified guitar) as it shows the A# string being lowered to both A and G on different pedals which can't be done - you can only lower a string to one note with a regular changer.
