HELP! Carter parts...

Hey all,
Looking for a little help here...
I have a carter starter that is missing a changer, I've been looking online for a place to purchase a replacement one, if anyone has any advice or knows where I could turn, it would be much appreciated.

I have a better idea. It gets pretty cold up there in Massachusetts in the winter. Get yourself a better guitar like a Stage One, and use the Carter Starter for firewood.

Yeah, I'm being a smart ass, but even so, you'll be far better off with a Stage One.

Yeah it's not the best, I've been thinking about a new steel at some point, but if I were to sell it, I'd probably need all the parts...got to hang on to it for a while as I just bought a dobro though.

Al Brisco got all the parts Carter had left when Carter went out of business, so he might have a changer on hand.

To satisfy my curiosity, why is there no changer in the guitar? Or are you referring to something else and calling it a changer by mistake?

Pure personal negligence, broke a string, and the Carter starter never came with a case, so it fell off in transportation, and I hadn't noticed till it was too late.

I suspect there must be a couple of Carter-Starters missing a changer finger out there, because every several months I get a call from a 'newbie' to pedal steel who has unsuspectingly purchased a C-S, not knowing that it was not complete.

To my knowledge there are NO Carter-Starter changer fingers available. I keep hoping to obtain a 'Junker' C-S to keep for parts.

Al, if and when I upgrade, I'd gladly talk to you about taking it for parts. Maybe we can strike a deal at some point, like I send you the Starter for parts and you help me out with a deal on a new steel? Thanks for all your help, and the info. Maybe with the parts you can help someone else out in my situation in the future!

I could easily be wrong here - I have not taken my Starter apart and I don't know how the finger in question is broken nor how substitutable they are.

but there are strings on those guitars that have fingers that are not connected to any pullrods.

In the case where you broke a finger that has pulls on it, you might be able to exchange that finger with one that doesn't have any pulls on it.
