I’d like to put in a special plug for friend and fellow forumite Jody Cameron for his contribution to a live recording made by local Houston traditional country artist Wade Andrew Smith at one of the last performances at Blanco’s Bar & Grill here in Houston. Likened to Austin’s Broken Spoke, Blanco’s was an old school, pure honky-tonk live music venue now closed and gone for good due to meeting it’s fate with a Houston building boom bulldozer. There are 17 traditional country songs on the CD and Jody’s impeccable and stellar playing is displayed throughout . . . there is a ton of great steel guitar playing on this CD, especially given that it was made in a live environment. Great job Jody (and Wade & Driftwood)!

Here are a couple of YouTube samples from the CD . . .

Wow! Thanks Mike and guys - just now saw this. It was a fun place to play, sure hated to see it go. However, The Firehouse Saloon is pulling a lot of the old Thurs. night Blanco's crowd, so there's still hope for honky tonk in Houston! LOL Very Happy

Jody, my friend, we sure missed you in Dallas over the weekend. We look forward to the cruise next February with you, Bobby Flores, Hank Singer, RJ Smith, Harlan and Dennis Kubos (AKA Bobby Flores and The Yellow Rose Band). We highly recommend the cruise...we are already signed up. Will see you then if not before.

Ben..your loss was our gain: Jody was part of a five-band lineup playing at an annual event in LaGrange TX.
Packed (500+) dancehall at 4:00pm on a Friday? Jody was part of it.
As was Kenny Grohman (sp), Rick Price, Gary Carpenter, and Roger Edginton(sp)....five great bands, five great steelers.
