G# to F# pull tuning split to G

Post by Daniel Showalter »

I have a Shobud ProII and have added a knee to lower Strings 3 and 6 1/2 step to G but now want to go all the way to F# on string 6 but can't figure out how to tune the combination with B pedal to get the G There is a set screw on the changer of my Zum for this but there has to be another way without tearing the guitar apart to make that mod
Any ideas?

There are many threads on the subject. This here shows both methods--your Zum method and the extra rod method (Patrick Laffrat's second graphic). As long as you have an available hole on the changer and the rod & bellcrank, this is what you need.

I did it with the extra rod on a LDG and it worked out very good.

I was going to put the 3rd string lower, along with the 6th string lower on my Franklin. I was advised not to do it by Mr Franklin (Sr) when he built the guitar. That was 1981, when I ordered the guitar, and I've never missed having it.

I do have the 6th string lower, G# to F# and the split with the B pedal to G. I use both of these changes quite a bit. Probably next to the lever that lowers the E's, the lever that lowers the 6th string is the 2nd most used.

Same here Jack I like the 6th string lower with the split, He did put the third string lower on mine but I just lower it a half tone and do use that often
The split on the 6th makes it real handy for me, different strokes for different folks I guess.
