Bill -

The video and audio quality are superb. The playing's not bad either.

Thanks for sharing this gem with all of us. FF.

Richard, those are Nashville 400's and Buddy was only playing through one.

Glad you guys like this video.

Thanks to Carl Dixon for having the wherewithall to turn the camera on for this session. As soon as I can find it, I will dig out the "performance" video and post it. That way you can compare "rehearsal" to "live" performance.

One of great songs on this CD is for me the E9 tune: So Many Ways To Say Goodbye. The solo on this one...Woefffff...That big "C" chord..

If anyone knows that solo I have a question.

On counter 24.45 on this video there's a move at the 11 fret strings 5(11a), 6(11),.8(11f) TO 5(11a),6(11),8(10e). So the 8 string in this part is lowering.
But if see Biggy playing this he use the RKR lever. That's the 9 string lower right?
That's interessting...Maybe the RKR lowers the the 8 string a whole tone also on Buddy's guitar.
I hope someone can explain it..

If I see this video, it give me strength to go on and never give op what Tommy allready said before..

Yes, you can hear it lower from E to C#.
You suggest that he slanted the bar, but we can see that he did not.

Also, we can see that Buddy lifted his right hand away from the strings, so we know that he didn't mute string 8 and attack string 9 for the C#.

I don't know if it lowered string 9. If we care, we should watch the whole video carefully.
Note he released then, LKL as you would expect.

Yes, your analysis is correct.

To tweak an old commercial ... once you said Buddy Emmons, you said it all. 'At's all.

Bill,

I'm listing to Buddy,s song " S' Wonderful" at this video.
Did Biggy has a Saxophone player in this band?
It seems that I hear it on counter 10.34.

Thanks'

Marcel.

Excellent Video's

Post by marsello »

Bill,

You have posted a treasure with the two videos of Buddy Emmons. I appreciate your posting of the vids.

It would be great if you could find and post some vids of other great performers from the St. Louis shows, like Chalker, Newman, Day, etc. I mean their actual performances and not just a single video.

Thanks again for you efforts on a great find. Please continue to post any and all vids you can.

marsello,
I would love to post more full videos, but that is not only time prohibitive, but would go against what I am trying to do by posting some of the best video.

Obviously, in a 30 mintute live show, unrehearsed (except for Emmons), there are bound to be mistakes by everyone, on stage and in our sound/video booth.

So I try to pick out what I think showcases the players. It was a MAJOR task getting permission to post what I do, as it is.

Thank you for the comments,
Bill

Emmons Videos

Post by marsello »

Bill,

You've done a great service to all on this form by posting any of the videos you have access too for the years you have been a part of the St. Louis show.

I'll be looking forward to more magical and treasured vids you may come up with.

Thanks so much for a gallant effort.
