I have a friend who is looking for some articels about that tuning from Jeff in older PSGA Newsletters. That was probably in the mid-seventies.
Any info appreciated.

Hello Manfred,

I went through all PSGA issues from the beginning in 1974 to 1980.
There are some articlers by John Helak about comparison between many Universals, technical
articles, no music.
There are no articles by Jeff Newman about Universal tuning here, just his interesting articles on "That Old F-pedal"
.
However I took one week in Jefran College in Nashville
in 1982 (together with Pete Burak), and again in 1985,
and noticed that Jeff had written a very nice illustrated book on Universal E9/B6 with a cassette tape to it.

I have the PSGA bound by a bookbinder craftsman from number one !
The same with Scottys newsletter Steel Guitar International, and Steel Guitarist by Tom Bradshav, and Steel Guitar World by Russel Rask.

I bought a Thomas 12-string a few years back with the best of intentions, but the fourth through eighth pedals and three of the knee levers had been disconnected, and I've never gotten round to putting any time into it. All the parts are there, so I just need to put it back together and figure out how the copedant is supposed to go, but so far my other projects have taken priority. I always thought that once I had retired I would have a lot more time to fiddle with various projects but so far it hasn't worked out that way. I guess it's a matter of time management.  |
