Great discussion fellas. I've had trouble with the angled plugs also but I never did see instructions. I shall go re-work my cables with the suggested technique. I've had straight cable connectors work for decades.

Michael,
The George L's are so small in circumference. How do you secure them to the Neutrik casing?

There must be some type of mechanism that secures the cable.
Do you have a model number of the Â¼'s you used?

BTW: Trimming the covering off the George L so we can solder is no simple task.
The core has a plastic coating that is difficult to strip.
Any suggestions on cable prep here would be appreciated.

George L's cable is NOT designed to be stripped and soldered. It is designed to work with George L's connectors.

If you plan to use the Neutrix connectors, I suggest using a cable that is designed to be stripped and soldered.

I did not say you could not. Simply stated it was not designed to be used that way.

If that's what Geo L says then of coarse, they want you to buy their plugs. Cable is cable and can be connected to whatever means available. I've soldered a lot smaller crap from Radio Shack. Got to have a few different wire strippers around and sometimes the good old Exacto knife rules

Thanks everyone for your thoughts and experiences with George L cables. From what I am reading it appears the George L cables perhaps are overrated. That said, what cables are most of you using who play professionally? Thanks, Gary Cooper

Gary, thank you for your original post.

As the old saying goes "You only hear from people that are dissatisfied" That is sad.

I find that probably 80 to90 percent of the professional players use George L's cables. I know that I sure do sell a lot of cables to the pros, the semi pros and the beginners. I just don't get complaints.

Maybe it is because I take great care in assembling the cables and I ship them out with the rubber jackets.

With that being said, I am sorry that your original post seems to have been hijacked. But I do thank you for the compliment and plug for my business.

I went to George L cables about 2 years ago and have never gone back.

I LOVE them.

I've had absolutely no problems with the right angles at all. They are the only cable I use anymore and have loved them the whole time

Beyond the obvious benefits of making them exactly as long as you need, easy to fix if anything does happen is the fact that they are TINY. So they take up MUCH less room in your pac a seat or anything you carry cables in.

The only downsides to them I would say is they are often hard to see lying on a dark stage so they could potentially be easier for people to trip over. the one going to my amp I wrap around the handle so the cable will take the brunt of the force if someone trips on it and not my input jack.

For that reason, the cable comes in colors.
