I was priviledged to play at the Mississippi State Fair this past Sunday. Our band, along with Kenny Robbins, The Providentials Quartet and "Karen Peck and New River" had a wonderful day of music and ministry! It was held on the fairgrounds under a tent with a capacity crowd! The sound was awesome! Those guys did a wonderful job and were very accomodating.
Karen Peck and New River did a splendid job! To my amazement, the guy running their product table came to me and was so nice and complimentary of our show. He introduced himself as "David Jackson, son of Shot Jackson" of Sho-Bud fame! What a shocker! He is married to a member of New River!
We had such a great talk! We discussed our instrument at length and his knowledge of our instrument was staggering!
He talked about building the Sho-Buds stating that in one day they assembled "150 guitars"! Astounding! Of course this was a one-time experiment, he said. I am sure it took a lot of prep to be ready to do such a thing.
If you have a chance to go see the Christian group, "Karen Peck and New River" do! And, when you stop by to buy a cd ask for David Jackson!

The steel guitar industries most "unsung hero", is David Jackson. Hardly anyone knows who this guy is and he's the one that built 90% of all Sho-Bud steel guitars ever produced and did most all of the R and D for this company. Starting in 1961, about all Sho-Buds were built by him , with some help from Shot and family. Music city mfg, was all David's, and this is where almost every Sho-Bud guitar in captivity came from today.

A good guy is he!

Theresa.
You got that right, David was a great Boss.
I had the pleasure of working with David, You, Duane, Paul, Ron & Leslie, Yasu, Dave and more at Music City Mfg for 2 and a half years.
I will always remember those good old days.
I would like to get in touch with David if anyone has his address or phone number.
Jimmy
