I have been playing a Sho-Bud Super Professional lately that is owned by a friend. He swears that the tone with the tone control switched out is the way to go. I prefer the sound with the tone control switched in, but set to its most treblish setting.

Any thoughts or opinions?

tone thing again...the best answer is do whatever you like the best.I like bright tone but also prefer the natural sound of the guitar without any tone controls, but then again you are adjusting your tone on the amp EQ anyway.

If you like it that way, play it. You might change your mind at some point - at various times I have made the mistake of getting locked into one way of setting things and being reluctant to change. That's what controls are for, whether on the amp or the guitar, so we can change them around, experiment, and put them back the way they were if that's what we decide to do.

You can also think of it as your solo and comping switch.
Bright for your rides, and toned down for behind the singer.
Just a thought.

I've always played my Pro II with the switch to the "lower(mellow)" position. The bright setting is thin, seems to have less punch. To me, the the "out", or less-brite position represents the Sho~Bud sound the best.
