In a recent thread (that I can no longer find) the subject of Jimmy Bryant playing fiddle was mentioned. Anyone that has the 50's DVD's of 'Country Style U.S.A' sponsored by the U.S. Army need only to go to season 2, and go to the show (either #25 or #26) that features Jim Reeves and you will find the fiddle player to be none other than Jimmy Bryant. It used to be posted on YouTube but it has been withdrawn.

In the late 70's I spent a few days in Nashville. Curly Chalker and Jimmy Bryant were playing nightly in the lounge at the Best Western Hall or Fame and I was of course mesmerized by Chalker. Bryant had a guitar there but he played fiddle most of the time. I dimly recollect that his fiddle was painted gold.

Bob,

Are you sure that wasn't Charlie Daniels or the devil playing that gold fiddle? LOL

Makes you wonder! I half wonder if I recall the colour of the fiddle correctly, but I don't know why my mind would make such a thing up.

I sat real close to the stage three nights running. Music was amazing. Curly and Jimmy seemed to alternate between having a good time and getting cranky! People were coming and going off that stage all night - it seemed like a real scene.

I'm not sure if that's him on fiddle, there are no credits on the cover of my vinyl record:
