Dickie, some might say I've been "expired" for quite some time already. Laughing

I know this is 'expired' too, but I not only still have this plate, I still drive the same car!

(Before someone rushes to report me, this is an old photo... Smile )

. This is one of many "PFEIFER" plates in my town. However, there's only one Marine Corps plate here.

Very Happy Forgot to include my wife's license plate.
She's not a steel player but loves the music.
Another form of "PFEIFER" plates around town.[img]

Zoom in for license PIFER.

I was torn between the temptation to have 'fun' with a license plate and choose almost whatever I wanted (not an option in the UK where I'm from) and the need for caution - I don't want to alert potential miscreants about what might be locked in the car's boot! (So I couldn't have '000-28' - my favourite guitar.) 'E9 C6' seems perfect and only intelligible to another steel player.

One New Year's Eve I was pulled over by PC Plod who said I'd 'swerved'. It was no problem to me as I don't drink and he was probably just trawling for drunk drivers on 12/31 - fine by me, by the way.

He questioned my tag and asked if it had 'para-military' connotations. I think my explanation baffled him and I couldn't help wondering if a Lincoln Town Car would have been the first choice for a wannabee 'survivalist'.

Every March I ponder the fact that my little attack of vanity costs me about $40 extra in local taxes; then I found out that even changing back to a random plate would cost me more money. I'll keep it for now.

Our personalized plates are a one time fee, just renewable each year as a regular plate.

In Florida they charge us for making the initial change then, if you have a vanity plate, the annual charge is higher.

My wife pays about $56 but I pay over $80....

If I changed to a random plate there'd be an initiation charge but then I'd only pay the $56 thereafter (until they put it up!!! Sad )
