American Airlines lost my Marlen!

Post by Arty Passes »

My 1975 Black Mica Marlen that has played hundreds of gigs and been around the world with me has been lost by American Airlines.
I was coming back from the Music Fest in Steamboat Springs, Colorado on Thursday the 9th, and it still hasn't been located. Gotten conflicting reports from everyone I have spoken to at AA, and may still be in Dallas and just be delayed, as some other bags have been, or may have come in on an earlier flight to Austin as I was laying over in Dallas, (guess they thought they were doing me favor by having it come early and me not being there to pick it up) and possibly just picked up by someone who thought it looked interesting, because it's not at the Austin Airport. Doubt if it would have hit the area pawn shops yet, but still keeping my fingers crossed that it mysteriously shows up in Austin, like the woman at the baggage office said has been happening lately. It's in an SKB case.

Seriously broken system!!!! - they do this every day - why can't they figure it out?

Bittersweetly ironic that in the For Sale section there's an almost identical Marlen that may have belonged to Jeff Newman. Bought mine after I attended a seminar in early 1975 where he played one just like it.
Doubly ironic that I just took delivery Saturday of a beautiful new Rains, but I'll save that for a happier thread.

Thanks for the support. Scott. Although it's only been played on a few fly dates for years now, there are so many old memories in that guitar, it feels like losing an old friend.

Check the unclaimed baggage place in Alabama. Yhat's where my 1975 Marlen wound up. Guess they like Marlens.

OH NO!!!! :whoa:

Arty, I am sooo sorry this has happened. It seems, from our last conversation, your worst nightmare of flying with the Marlen has happened.

I hope and pray that it's just misplaced by American Airlines and that they return it to you with much haste.

Peace be with you, my friend.

Man, so sorry to hear about this. Surely it's just laying around in storage somewhere. Keep us posted
and I'll keep my eyes open for it.
