8 string C6 copedent

Thinking about building a 8 string lap / console. As for a C6 copedent, what would you recommend.

It wouldn't be called a "copedent" because that word applies to pedal steel guitars (chord-pedal-arrangement). It would just be called a tuning.

For 8-string C6, this would be a good starting point:

It makes it easier to go to all the different tuning like A6th, C13th, B11th, C6/A7th. that have an E note on top.
Bobbe Seymore has a great instruction video in this tuning.
And if you're used to C6th pedal guitar it makes an easy transition.

I mainly use a C13 with a high G (from bottom) G Bb E G A C E G. I've been fooling around with "Adventures in Paradise" with this tuning: G C# E G A C E G. It give really rich chords which are cool for this song. Thanks to Alan Akaka for help. I move the 7th string around a lot, though - mostly Bb but sometimes A or C or C#. - Jack

This really is a great tuning if you are into playing boogie woogie and New Orleans style music, too. I use it to sometimes get that Professor Longhair kind of thing.

I like the C6th tuning with the E on top.
You can retune to an A6th or a C#m7 and use the same strings. Or you can do something like this:

fits the band that I'm playing with. I do not know my guages or what this tuning is called, but it works for me right now. Any help identifying what this tuning is called would be great. Also, if yall could recommend a guage for this, I'd be grateful. Take care!

I would call this an F9 tuning, myself, as it has nothing in it except the notes in an F Major triad plus G, the ninth note of an F Major scale.

I am no expert on this but I would call it an F/9 or Fadd9 as there is no b7th (Eb).

P.S. Thanks again for the heads up on the $100 Dual Pro at that music store in Santa Cruz a few years ago. I had the pickups rewound and it sounds great!
