Hi Dom,

Great recording, I know we mainly focus on Guitars but p;ease share some of your recording highlights very clean and can hear all the instruments so well. Most of your recordings so clean so I wish you could share some of the devices you are using for recording. And lastly are you playing standard guitar too because the chops and rhythm, plus the bass way good.great!!! Love the Old swing stuff very inspiring. Michael

Yes I played the bass and guitar and keyboard etc.
The only thing I really can't play is the drums. So it is a Boss Drum Machine. (it bothers me cause I can tell it's fake)

I have a drum set and I am getting better, but not good enough yet. My son is a great drummer and I am blessed sometimes to have him record a track or two for me.

My basic recording rig is a Fostex D2424LV 24 track hard disk recorder.
It's great, no data compression, no computer latency, stand alone rack mount. (no computer glitches, no crashes, full CD quality A/D converters, and I can record 24 tracks at once with no data lag. It's almost 10 years old I think and still going strong.
The editing capabilities are also amazing. I can move and paste whole sections or individual notes and all kind of tricks.

I rarely use all the features, but it's nice to have when needed.

I just realized I didn't give you any specifics on the instruments...
Here are some of the things I use:

Vocals: Condenser mic thru Joe Meek Vocal preamp
Telecaster: Boss effects & Danelectrico tremolo
Bass: Direct through a Roland multi effects box
Steel: I am always messing around with numerous input boxes, Still looking for a great tone...
Finally: I mix down through some mastering boxes (TC electronics compressors, 31 band graphic EQ, Lexicon Rev/Delay ART multi effects unit other outboard gear)

I love the recording process

Dom thanks for the info. Great knowing that you are not using the latest recording devices. I'm using 10 year and older equipment as well.
I also love the recording process but have to focus on balancing between playing and being the engineer. Have found the learning curve tremendous with recording and developing the ear for the right sound.
