The last few times I've played out, ( all differant locations) The sound just stops. It cuts right out. I don't have to touch anything and it'll come back on. Of course it's in the middle of a solo when it stops..
This last time, it did not come back on. Heres what I've done so far. The last time it just quit, I changed amps (I have 2 - MB200's. You know, the 2 pound amps). And still nothing so, I'm guessing thats not it. In the last couple of weeks, I purchased all new George L. cords, replaced the pot in my Goodrich. Installed a new 1/4" jack in my Derby. The only effect I use is a stomp box reverb. I ended up not playing the last set Saturday because of the problem. I just ordered a new pickup thinking, what the heck do I have to loose. I just now set it all up here at home AND, everthings working fine. Any thoughts??

My rat distortion pedal caused the same problem for me so i had to take it out of the chain (even though it has true bypass), till i get it fixed, its a possibility your reverb pedal might be doing the same thing, just a thought

| Thanks Roger. After reading my own post, I started thinking the same thing. I don't know if I tried bypassing it or not. It seems to act up on or after the third set of the gig. Like heat building up in something until it fails. |

Mine was working great till i kicked it on for a solo and it just lost volume then started to roar then nothing, i disconnected it and everything worked fine since.
Im thinking the prob might be in my on/off switch, at least hoping thats all it is

What speakers are you using? Neo magnets can lose their magnetism when heated up... that's why you often see big heatsinks on them. Don't neglect the speaker when troubleshooting... also, feel if the amp is getting real hot when it fails... they often have auto shutdown for this kind of thing.

I have a 15" Eminance (sp)
The Amp didn't feel to warm but, I hooked up my spare MB200 and still nothing.
What is this big heat sink you mention? I don't have that. |

| I should also mention, It's clear as a bell but, at times it sounds slightly buzzy or distorted. If not played for a minute or so it's clean again. |

Check your cords and connections.
Just wiggle them in place with moderate volume.

I found that the speaker cord's, 1/4" plug post was loose. It wiggles at the connection rivet in front of solder joint. As soon as I touched it, things went wild. I hang the MB200 from my stool and the speaker cord bends at the floor. My wiggling around would make it short out.

One quick check "when it dies" is simply to unplug the cord going to the amp input from wherever it's plugged in, and touch the center contact. If the problem is in the guitar, volume pedal, or stomps, you'll get the loud BUZZZ. No loud BUZZZ means problem is in that cord or the amp.  |
