Jim, the sound of this ShoBud is what anyone would want but the hum is too much for me. Besides I can't even lift a Zum.

I realize I'm not the Jerry you're talking about, but just couldn't resist. Since it's an original Sho Bud pickup, it's most likely a single coil, thus the zumming noise . Jerry W. should be able to rewind it so that the zum is very minimal, maybe even no zum at all.

Charles, I've got some thin mount pickups in my bins...Thats all the issue is. Single Coils will pickup all kinds of RF from bad wiring, rheostats...etc..Rewiring and shielding the original pickup will help considerably. however the only way to eliminate this is with a hum bucker. The guitar won't sound the same...but...Your amps controls can compensate for that...?...
