If you have an ohmmeter, you could figure it out. My guess is that you have separate wires for each coil (Didn't know Bill's came like that).
You could (and I would) wire it with a three way switch, giving you changer coil, both in series, or neck coil. _________________ 2 pedal steels, a lapStrat, and an 8-string Dobro (and 3 ukes)

The blue and white connect together. The Black will
be the ground and the Red is hot going to the jack. _________________ aka "Lucky Kay"--Custom built Rittenberry SD10 3X5, Walker S/S, NV-112, and Hilton Pedal |

Carl, does it HAVE to be that way, or wouldn't one have the option of single coil operations? _________________ 2 pedal steels, a lapStrat, and an 8-string Dobro (and 3 ukes)

The 705 has 2 coils. The Green and Red is one, and the Black and White
is the other, with the bare being the ground. The two coils are in series
and makes it a HB pickup and it'll have a higher output than a single coil. _________________ aka "Lucky Kay"--Custom built Rittenberry SD10 3X5, Walker S/S, NV-112, and Hilton Pedal |

Yes, but with a bit less bite and twang. I kinda like the option of a single coil sound until you get a hummy room.
I have always thought the lack of the other wires on a George L was a drawback. _________________ 2 pedal steels, a lapStrat, and an 8-string Dobro (and 3 ukes)

Lane, I don't see why it couldn't be wired with a three-way switch as you described above. I think that you could also use a SPST switch between the middle wires (Green/White) and the ground (Black, bare). In the open position nothing is changed and you have the humbucker. In the closed postion, one coil is grounded out and you have a single coil pup. I have a Strat sized rails humbucker on a lap steel with that switching and it works great.
Two cents, only. _________________ "For every expert, there is an equal and opposite expert." -- Arthur C. Clarke |
