John Allison Double Eight Console

Post by Ian »

I bought a this John Allison D-8 custom made guitar last year which has, sadly, been sitting in its case ever since. I've played it for a few hours but the extra stings are just a bit overwhelming - I'm much happier with six strings. I need to sell the D-8 to finance the purchase of a new Weissenborn. The list price of a Double Eight Satin Lacquer Console is $1989. I'm willing to sell this for $1400 plus shipping. It has adjustable long legs for standing or sitting, sounds great, has Rio Grande Pick-ups, and is absolutely mint. Check out the websight www.allisonguitars.com for more specs.

Thanks,

Ian Reynolds

Guys, I'd like to add that the Allison guitar is one of the best non-pedal guitars available today. I played an S-8 for a year and loved it, only leaving it behind when I went to a 10-string non-pedal guitar.

John is a personal pal of mine, one of the best, and is an excellent luthier. Like Mark Giles, his flat-top acoustic guitars are in the category (and price range :whoa: ) of Collings guitars. Works of art, visual and audible.
My rig: Infinity and Telonics.

Son, we live in a world with walls, and those walls have to be guarded by men with steel guitars. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Lt. Weinberg?

Thanks Herb,

Yeah, this is a great guitar - simply too many strings. Again, I'm trying to finance a Weissenborn purchase; I'd consider a trade for one of comparably value.

Thanks.
