Hello-
I have a 1974 MSA Classic D10. On a couple of the pull rods on the E9 neck, there are nuts that slide along the length of the rod and can be locked in place with a set screw. They are on the rods to string 2 (lowered 1/2 step by RKL) and string 4 (lowered 1/2 step by LKR). What is the purpose of these nuts, how do I properly set them, and what the heck are they called?
Thanks,
Michael Bonner |

They prevent the rods from extending past tHe end of the guitar in its case. I remember mine had them on lkl , RKR and RKL
To set them, put guitar in case, hold lever just a scoche into the free play zone (or, if you like, a bit before a rod starts to pull), slide the collar against the finger and lock it down. You can bend the pull rods if a nut extends past the guitar as you case or uncase it. _________________ 2 pedal steels, a lapStrat, and an 8-string Dobro (and 3 ukes)
More amps than guitars, and not many effects |

Ahhh! That makes sense. I was wracking my brain trying to figure out how they affected intonation.
Thanks, Lane, for putting my mind at ease. |
