Does anyone know if the Fender/Sho-Buds had polished end plates? Are mine like me just old and faded?

The Artist series (2+2 all pull changer) did have polished end plates. I believe the student model did as well, but I'm not sure. That aluminum is pretty cheap, so over polishing might produce pits pretty quickly; that's what I ran into when I took the parts from my Artist S-10 to a metal shop for polishing.
