My Mother Passes

Post by bob drawbaugh »

After a long battle with Alzheimer my Mother went home to be with the Lord last night. She is no longer tormented by the things she can't Remember. She was the Rock of or family and I will miss her every day. I've always liked the old song, "If I could hear my mother pray again." But today it takes on a very different meaning. Mother I love you, RIP.

Well said, Bob ! Reminds me of when my Mom went home and while that was 33 years ago, it still seems like yesterday !

Bob, I am so sorry for your loss. God bless you always. Donna
The Long Good-bye
by Bernard Howe

Deep within that hollow stare,
of our presence they're unaware.
A life that is fading away,
in spite of things we try to convey.
Memories locked up in their mind,
and there they're kept all confined.
Good times spent long ago,
and all their love they did bestow.
For these moments will live forever,
and our pride in them will endeavor.
Seeing them lying there we know why,
Alzheimers is called the long good-bye.

so sorry to hear of your loss bob.

Her Journey’s
Just Begun

Don’t think of her as gone away-
her journey’s just begun;
life holds so many facets—
this earth is only one.
Just think of her as resting
From the sorrows and the tears
In a place of warmth and comfort
Where there are no days and tears.
Think how she must be wishing
That we could know, today,
How nothing but our sadness
Can really pass away.
And think of her as living
In the hearts of those she touched…
For nothing loved is ever lost—
And she was loved so much.

We new this day come eventually but we didnt know it would come this soon. Grandmother apparantly had a heart attack after dinner last night. It is hard to wrap my mind around it, seems like a dream. But I know she has been made whole and all the things she suffered from no longer have any hold on her. So begins her journey in heaven.

Bob and Jeremy,

Sorry to hear this but as you know she is in a better place where there is no Alzheimer's. Take heart in knowing this terrrible disease wasn't prolonged. I consider you both dear friends. My prayers and sympathy are with you.

Terry, Thank you very much. I wish I had know your were in St. Louis. I would have loved to get with you and talk about our heros, Zane and Julian. I was big fans of both.

Donna..In 1999, my mother passed away from an Aneurisum just 6 days before I got my "Call" for my new heart. She lived 200 hundred miles away from me and I wasn't even able to go up and see her in the Chapel of rest. When you are on a waiting list for a Donor, you are not allowed to go further than a hundred miles or so from the heart transplant hospital because a Donor heart needs new blood flow within 3 hours. I was kept asleep for safty reasons for 36 hours...they day they awoke me was the day of my mother's funeral...it's very hard to come to terms that I had to miss my own mum's funeral....But I'm sure she understood.

Bob, you have my sincere sympathy for your loss. I still miss my mother who has been gone now for many years.

.....and Micky, for the loss of your Mom, as all moms do, she understood the circumstances that you described, and with love would not have you stressed for even one minute about the question about "what if"?

Remember your Mom with love and do not suffer from regret about alternative paths.
