I was listening to Sarah Jory the other night. She was playing Mansion on the Hill, excellently I might add. So it seems that Buddy is the best male Steel Guitarist. Who I once read a quote of him saying if he could have seen wat was going to happen to the steel, he would have learned guitar, but i digress, Is Sarah on the same plane, are there other female Artist greater than she comparable to her. I havent seen any on you tube. That may be my profiency level on you tube thought al right guys its yours to dis _________________ "Oh what a tangled web we weave when we first begin to deceive" Someone Famous |

Donna is wonderful, and I also favor Joan Herndon Cox. _________________ My rig: Infinity and Telonics.
Son, we live in a world with walls, and those walls have to be guarded by men with steel guitars. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Lt. Weinberg? |

We can't ignore the great Cindy Cashdollar. The late Marian Hall of Town Hall Party. I am sure that there must be others that could be added to this list.

I have and old CD of Ann Jones and the Western Sweethearts. The steel player in her road band was Blanche Emerson, and was still playing in the year 2000. Her stage name then was Blanche White. Most of the steel on the recordings were done by Speedy West, Marian Hall, and others.
Another female steel player to add to the list. Took me a little time to find her name as the picture of the band with her name on the steel was unreadable.

Add Lisa Linn formerly "Spears" to the list. She was with Porter Waggoner's all girl band....scroll the clip to 11.00 minutes for some fast picking by all of them, or watch the whole show.

There are several very good steel players that happen to be female. But why do we have to look at it like that? Male or female, one can either play or one can't. _________________ Johnny "Dumplin" Cox
