Fender made several Triple necks in 1947 but they first showed up in the 1949 catalogue.
The last one was ordered in March 1955 when Stringmasters were already available.

I just picked up a Triple 8 Custom about 2 weeks ago and it's dated 6/56 (under the outside neck tuner pan) and the volume pot is from around 10/55. Cool steel, by the way.
[This message was edited by Don Sutley on 14 October 2000 at 11:27 AM.]

I bought mine new in 1954, a blonde triple neck which has turned to a shade of yellow with aging. This old axe still has a great sound which I prefer over the Stringmaster. I think this is due to the fact the strings went through the magnetic field similar to the old Rick horseshoe pickups. The only regret is having only 3 legs instead of the 4 which the Stringmaster came equipped.
