John, I thought you were reducing the herd, not adding to it!
This one reminds me of when I was young they sold "kit" sailboats at unbelievable prices. But the "kit" only had the hull. When you added up everything you needed to make it a full sailboat (bought from them, of course) you might as well have bought a new sailboat ready to go! So, looks like you have the "kit" Sho-Bud! Good luck with her! If anyone can make her look good, you can! _________________ Bringing steel guitar to the bukid of Negros Oriental! |

John, there you are! Been missing you on the forum as of late. Got a bit of a road in front of you with this one. No worries, I trust you'll have her up and running. Keep us informed will you? _________________ “TONESNOB” |

Man, it will be cool to see this one come together if we are privy to the progress along the way. I especially like looking at old beater brown and/or green Buds. Someday, man...
I don't have much in the way of parts for you, except some loose screws, and I think those are plentiful around here. Good luck with your build, John! |

Guys! Thank you for the undeserved compliments! Many here do this kinda stuff, and there are some real standout restorers.
But,,,,,,, this posting was sort of a test and a poor joke. It's an odd guitar! Look at the pics again, closely. There's a clue in one. Examine the pics, and tell me what you see.
Chris Lucker has it completely figured out, and it's cool!

Looks to be 2 keyheads missing on that fat neck. Is that a cresant moon on the face of the cab? Perhaps one of Mooney's guitars? _________________ “TONESNOB” |

Just one keyhead missing on the fat neck. The inside neck was a 12 string, but the parts were stripped and probably used on another guitar.
Not a crescent moon, just a scratch. No Mooney connection. |

"how come no cutout on top of cabinet for changer?"
That's a small part of the mystery. But the guitar was never completed. |

this is an intriguing guessing game!
was the front neck to be strung with octave strings like a 12 string guitar?? |
