This question has been asked and answered before on the Forum, messing around with the search option should get you there. Either Del Mullen or Mike Mantey gave the reply, so search for their posts.

On a related note, I took my steel to the Mullen booth at the ISGC last weekend because I was having an issue with the knee lever lowering my second string. The Mullen-ites worked at it until they got it right and were a true gem to work with, which is yet another reason--beside the quality of their instruments--I'll never own anything but a Mullen. A love my RP and and the only other steel in my future is the G2...someday.

Not sure, it think it was in the changer. I bought it used and it never seemed quite right but I was never able to figure it out. Then again, I have the mechanical ability of a penguin so that's no surprise. Whether it's a service or product, it's never the problem that irritates me it's the providers or manufacturers response to it, and Mullen's was first class--just like their guitars.

I don't have a steel guitar at this time . mullen is my choice of steel guitars there is none better, the reason I asked about the g2 and rp is because I am planning on buying one in the near future and just wanted to know the difference . BOB

OK, someone fill in the blanks. I know I'll miss something. The G2 has split tuning capability for all strings in the end of the necks, accepts wide mount pick-ups, and has a different changer from the RP. The G2 and the RP both play extremely smooth, but something about the G2 is more pleasing to my ear.

I would like to know the difference between the RP and the G2, as well. I tried the search function, and turned up about 80,000,000 completely unrelated posts. The old search function worked much better, at least for me.

Well,I'm not knowledgeable about what goes on under the hood,but I do know that if Del built it,it's good.Here are pics of both my Mullen steels.The blonde is a '75 (or '71-Del and Dixie weren't quite sure) and the blue U-12 is an '06

But the G2 has a brighter full tone all up and down the neck from high to low with the bell tones. The R.P. has hard black anodized rollers which mellows the tone a bit.

Sorry I was not there when you came back to grab the guitar. It took me a little while to figure it out. I tried everything and just could not figure out why it would not lower enough. Finally got a flashlight and tried to inspect the changer internally and low and behold, there was a string ball end wedged between the two levers. So it would lower a little and then start pulling the raise lever with it, basically doing nothing.
*** So always look real hard for string end if your changer is acting up **** I can't believe it took me that long to see it.
